Shiatsu drum in a washing machine. Honeycomb drum in washing machine

Most modern washing machine models have stainless steel drums. The only difference is their different inner surface. Washing machines with a honeycomb type drum are designed to provide a delicate and gentle treatment of fabrics, without compromising the quality of dirt removal.

The technology is patented by the German company Miele, which produces premium household appliances. On the inner surface of the cylindrical structure there are convex hexagons of regular shape. In appearance they resemble a honeycomb. To circulate water, small round holes are located along the edges of the hexagons, the number and size of which are much smaller than in a conventional drum.

Branded honeycomb drum of Miele machines

How is it different from a regular drum?

The traditional design includes holes for water circulation throughout the entire area. Their diameter is such that when spinning at high speeds, centrifugal force pulls the fabric into them. In addition, during the washing process, the material is already subject to constant friction against metal walls. This negatively affects the appearance of things: they get washed out, and pills appear on the clothes.

In washing machines with a honeycomb drum, due to the efficient design of the inner surface, a film of water forms on the convex parts (honeycombs). When washing, laundry practically does not come into contact with the holes located in the concave part, this prevents wear and deformation of fabrics from friction, even when spinning at high speeds. The “honeycomb” surface even at a glance seems smoother, the holes have a significantly smaller diameter. In addition, this structure prevents small objects from entering the tank and drainage system of the machine during the washing program (buttons, coins, runners, underwear, etc.), which can subsequently cause a knocking sound during the spin cycle.

Therefore, it is fair to note that this technology not only treats any type of fabric with care, but also protects the components of the washing machine from the external influence of objects that may get into it during the washing process.

Otherwise, the operating principle of both conventional and “cellular” designs is similar.

Advantages and disadvantages

The honeycomb drum has a number of significant advantages:

  1. Careful care of fabric. During the washing program, water with detergents dissolved in it remains in the cells and forms a thin film. Thanks to this, the process of friction of things against metal walls is reduced, so the material is not subject to much wear.
  2. Strength and Durability. This is a cast structure made by rolling. There are no welded parts, which increases the service life.
  3. Saving resources. Miele's expert group, when testing their invention, proved that the honeycomb drum uses electricity and water much more economically than a conventional one.

The only downside may be the price. After all, in most cases you have to pay for innovative technologies that make life easier. Although not all consumers are ready for this and prefer to choose cheaper devices or analog models at an affordable price. But few will challenge the superiority.

Diamond Honeycomb Drum

Samsung also positions its drums as cellular ones, but their structure is somewhat different. And the name “Diamond” itself translates as diamond. The drum consists of convex quadrilaterals, at the top of which there are holes of reduced diameter. In the new generation Diamond + drums, these holes are already moved to the concave part, like Miele. For easy sliding of linen, the honeycomb edges have wavy shape. Compared to a traditional design, this drum is more gentle on delicate fabrics and protects items from pilling and damage.

Technology such as the honeycomb drum is undoubtedly better than conventional technology. It not only prevents wear and tear of washed items as much as possible and has a long service life, but also saves consumed resources. But it should be noted that any drum, regardless of the technology used in its production, needs regular cleaning of dirt. This will help extend its service life and keep the laundry clean, because during the washing process it actively rubs against the walls of the drum.

Some machine models, for example from LG, have a built-in drum cleaning function.

The washing machine not only removes dirt from your laundry, it also causes it to wear out prematurely and even get damaged. The extent to which fabric is damaged depends on what it comes into contact with during washing. If the car has a honeycomb drum installed, that’s one thing; if it’s an ordinary holey one, that’s another thing entirely. They have different surfaces, and fabric friction also occurs differently.

A regular drum is full of holes.

First, you should understand what a regular perforated, or perforated, drum is. This is a metal or plastic cylinder of a certain diameter, studded with holes. In washing machines with horizontal loading of laundry, such a drum has a rear wall, and in vertical loading washing machines, it has a bottom. Usually the back wall or bottom of the drum is without holes, but it happens the other way around.

The holes in the drum are needed for the circulation of water coming from the tank, and you cannot do without them. Engineers calculate the optimal number and area of holes based on many parameters, including:

  • drum rotation speed,
  • weight of laundry,
  • water pressure,
  • and etc.

The only thing is that holes are necessary, but they are dangerous for the fabric.

To understand the danger of a large number of holes on the side walls of the washing machine drum, you need to understand what fabric is and how it behaves during the washing process.

When washing, the fabric rubs against the walls of the drum

Fabric is a weave of threads, and a thread is a weave of fibers. The stronger the fibers and the tighter the weave of the threads, the stronger the fabric and the more difficult it is to destroy. You don't have to look far for an example. Fabric made from polymer threads is much more resistant to friction than fabric made from natural fibers.

The laundry is loaded, the washing machine is picking up speed. The fabric begins to rub against the walls of the drum, and is washed with water and diluted detergent. This is exactly what the washing process consists of. Thin fibers of fabric, like a real grater, rub against metal with holes. The edges of such holes are not sharp, but they are enough for the friction to be quite sensitive. The fabric begins to slowly wear out. A few washes and it no longer has the strength it once had. This is especially true for wool, cotton and other delicate fabrics.

If a thread of the linen has come loose somewhere, then the situation is even worse. An unsuccessful hook on a hole, and the thread is pulled out, destroying the fabric.

Miele engineers solve the problem

Designers from many companies have worked and are working on the problem of fabric wear when washed in a washing machine. Finding the optimal ratio of parameters that will allow, on the one hand, to efficiently clean the laundry from dirt, and on the other hand, to minimally damage the fabric, is not at all easy. As already mentioned, washing is primarily about friction, and it cannot be avoided.

Miele engineers, as often happens, began to look for a solution in the environment. A honeycomb caught their attention. The structure of regular hexagons, even molded from soft wax, turned out to be quite stable. Empirical data have been confirmed in laboratory tests.

Invented in the depths of Miele, the honeycomb drum is a cylindrical structure made of metal on which convex hexagons are stamped. There are significantly fewer holes for water circulation in it, and their area is noticeably smaller than in a conventional drum. The liquid stays in the container longer, and this determines both the efficiency of its use and the effectiveness of cleaning the fabric. In addition, the possibility of small hard objects, which are sometimes forgotten to be removed from pockets, from penetrating outside the drum practically disappears. And this protects other components of the washing machine from damage.

For more intense water movement, water intake elements are provided in the drum. The smoothness of the surface, as one of the decisive factors in the preservation of the fabric, is under special attention. The slightest doubt and the drum is sent for revision or scrap. The reason for doubt may be the tightening of the nylon fabric, which was passed over the honeycombs.

Honeycombs promote the formation of a thin film of water, which significantly softens the friction of the fabric and improves its cleaning. In addition, thanks to the honeycomb, the contact area of the drum surface with the fabric is reduced, which also has a positive effect on reducing friction.

Conclusion

The new drum in the Miele version has significant advantages over traditional designs. This becomes obvious even with the hardest spin option, when the fabric is not sucked into the holes, and there is no need to make extra efforts to remove it from there.

Therefore, clothes and more, which are usually washed by hand so as not to damage the delicate fabric, will not be harmed in any way in a washing machine with an innovative drum.

There are two types of washing machine buyers: the first are only interested in dimensions, load type and price, the second are trying to understand the programs, technologies and materials.

Let's say right away: the latter have become much more numerous. They buy a washing machine for many years, but use it almost every day.

Today's advice from experts from leading manufacturing companies is dedicated to new technologies used in tanks and drums of modern units.

I'll buy a drum with honeycombs!

"BT": how do you choose a washing machine now? Some are attracted by a familiar brand, while others meticulously delve into the very essence of things: technology, design, materials.

If you were buying a machine, would you dig into the tank and drum, materials and technologies?

K. Burmistrov,Ardo: I would think about this third.

First decide - frontal or vertical? Slim or full size? How much laundry will you load?

An equally important question is: how much are you willing to spend? Don't expect top quality from the cheapest model. And, conversely, a sophisticated device is not sold at a bargain price.

And thirdly, as promised, you can think about materials and technologies.

I advise you to think first of all about the drum: it must be balanced so that excessive load does not fall on the bearings during rotation. And the surface of the drum must be well treated so that the laundry wears out less during washing.

E. Suzdaleva,Mabe: The choice of a washing machine in our conditions is usually limited by the free space in the kitchen or bathroom.

Top-loading machines are great for small apartments. Drums with soft opening of the flaps and parking of the drum with the flaps up are especially convenient. In this case, when taking out the laundry, you don’t need to strain every time, rolling the heavy drum with your hands.

If you still prefer front loading, pay attention to machines with an inclined tank. It is clearly more convenient to place laundry here, and the quality of washing and spinning is better, since the laundry inside the inclined drum is mixed more intensively and thoroughly.

D. Serditov, BSH: plunging into the jungle about metal, rubber, plastic and other technologies, you run the risk of not seeing the forest for the trees.

Leading manufacturers are at approximately the same level technologically. But objective parameters are much more important: dimensions, set of functions, cost. Hence the basic rule: start choosing from the main thing.

V. Rozhkov, Atlant: and I would advise the most meticulous buyers to delve not so much into the intricacies of technology, but into the manufacturer itself. It’s one thing to assemble a screwdriver under a license, and quite another to have it in-house, branded production.

It is very important how the company is managed, how the technological process is streamlined, and how the quality control system works. As they say, the stronger and more accurate, the more convenient and expensive. This is where the high cost of famous brands comes from.

A specific example: you will hardly hear the machine even during a spin cycle if the rear wall of the stainless steel tank is lined with insulation, and the vibration of the tank can be sharply limited if its imbalance is automatically detected and eliminated.

These are all questions of technology. And where are they resolved as expected? The answer, I think, is obvious.

A. Uzhgintsev,Miele: It is generally accepted that the essence of washing lies in the friction of the laundry against the walls of the drum. The stronger the friction, the cleaner the laundry. But in fact, friction is the insidious enemy of clothing. Friction exhausts and frays the fabric, gradually turning it into rags. All serious manufacturers are trying to get rid of this “grater effect”.

We keep it to a minimum. The surface of the Miele drum consists of “honeycombs” - small convex hexagons. During washing, thanks to the relief surface, a thin film of water is formed, as a result, the laundry glides gently along the drum and does not experience barbaric overloads.

As you know, when welding, the strength of the metal decreases. Therefore, our drum does not have a single welded part; it is manufactured by rolling. And the honeycomb structure makes the drum even more rigid, durable and practical.

By the way, the Krefeld Institute for Applied Research (WFK) conducted a comparative analysis of honeycomb and conventional drums. With the same load and the same washing mode, the cellular version consumed much less water, electricity and detergents. Here's to technology, economy and ecology!

A. Myshkina,Candy: The quality of the drum directly affects the durability of the entire machine, its most important characteristics - noise level and the quality of washing.

Candy drums are also manufactured without bolts - we use vibration technology (vibration up to 100 Hz), which significantly increases its strength and reliability.

A. Godina,Vestel: We can safely classify tank leaks as force majeure failures. Therefore, when choosing a model, I would pay attention to the material from which its tank is made.

The main requirement for a drum is endurance. This is a rotating element and must withstand repeated loads while carrying a ton of laundry.

Even at high speed, the axis of the shaft and the axis of the drum must match perfectly, since even a fraction of a degree of deviation will cause a take-off rumble and a heavy rock-style grinding sound.

This usually happens if the technology is broken, if the center of gravity of the drum does not hit the mark, as a result of which destructive play occurs.

Is a plastic tank replacing a steel one?

"BT": Let's talk about the materials from which the tanks are made. The first thing readers ask: should I choose stainless steel or something else? They are primarily concerned with the reliability of the design and protection against leaks. What else does the choice of material for the tank influence, why are manufacturers increasingly moving away from classic stainless steel?

E. Suzdaleva,Mabe: They began to move away from classic stainless steel when an alternative appeared - polymer materials.

Of course, a stainless steel tank is much more durable (they are almost always installed on washing machines with high spin speeds), but they also make more noise.

Plastic tanks have a lot of advantages: lighter weight, low cost, silent and economical operation - all this is a consequence of the fact that polymer walls are much better insulated. But they are more fragile than steel.

Therefore, now more and more often tanks have begun to be made of metal-plastic: the back wall remains steel - this increases the service life, and everything else is made of plastic - this successfully reduces the noise level during washing and spinning.

I. Lavrentiev,Hansa: Having collected information about different tanks, many deliberately choose the cheaper one - plastic. These are compelling arguments if plastic retains heat better, reduces energy consumption and noise levels.

However, the top segment of washing machines remains faithful to stainless steel. Prices in the premium class are, of course, much higher, since the steel tank here turns into a technological masterpiece. Wealthy buyers are still willing to pay well for the high quality and durability of equipment.

By the way, in the mass segment, for a long time they also used a steel tank coated with a stainless steel layer. The technology is inexpensive, but the stainless layer quickly cracked, chipped, and the tank simply rusted.

A. Uzhgintsev,Miele: have not yet invented a material that would completely replace steel in the design of the tank. You can, of course, use some modern alloy. But the tank will be more expensive than gold. Almost all manufacturers using plastic components in the tank are aimed primarily at reducing costs. And the most serious drawback of plastic parts - reduced rigidity - fades into the background.

D. Serditov, BSH: metal drums are now made of high-quality alloy steel, which allows them to withstand enormous loads: mechanical, chemical and temperature. The Siemens line also includes polymer tanks made of polynox - this is a proprietary material that has low thermal conductivity, reduces energy consumption and noise levels, and is not subject to any corrosion.

A. Godina, Vestel: When making a drum, concepts such as molding, drawing, flanging are important; the metal must stretch well and not have cracks or tears.

In recent years, new smelting methods have been used to improve the quality of steel. Steel becomes more ductile and cheaper. In the not-too-distant past, stainless steel was too tough and hard, making it expensive to process. Higher costs - higher price. And manufacturers began to switch to polymer parts.

Polymers, in addition to their purely consumer advantages, are a very technologically advanced material: flexible, plastic, allowing perfectly precise adherence to geometric parameters. Hence the lower cost of production. And the mechanical strength of the plastic drum is now enhanced with the help of reinforcing additives.

A. Myshkina, Candy: In addition to stainless steel and plastic, tanks are sometimes made of enameled steel. However, the main disadvantage of enamel - fragility - speaks for itself. The Candy company uses Silitech polymer material - it has high wear resistance and excellent sound insulation. It is a lightweight composite polymer that is non-corrosive and environmentally friendly.

As colleagues noted, the composite tank is very reliable, durable (almost as good as stainless steel in these characteristics), as well as silent and corrosion-resistant.

K. Burmistrov, Ardo: All manufacturers started with stainless steel, but gradually began to switch to plastic. And this is not just a tribute to fashion.

Modern plastics are composite, they are very technologically advanced, they can be given any shape, they are strong and durable, and most importantly, plastic is cheaper than metal.

Ten or more years ago, only metal could provide reliable sealing. Therefore, any salesperson in any store recommended a stainless steel tank. But progress does not stand still. Modern plastic also holds water well.

For example, at ARDO factories, vibration welding is used for sealing. This technology allows you to make a single whole from two parts. So there can be no talk of any leaks.

Why do they make holes in the drum?

“BT”: On the forum of one well-known company, a certain meticulous housewife told in all seriousness how she counted the holes in the drum of her car and that of her neighbor, whose car had as many as five more holes. To the general amusement of forum members, the offended lady asked to change her car. But seriously, does the shape, location and number of holes and blades in the drum matter?

D. Serditov, BSH: as the diameter and number of holes decrease, the wettability of the laundry decreases; there must be an optimal balance. Siemens uses the proprietary varioSoft drum. Its surface is covered with droplet-shaped protrusions - it can be used for gentle or intensive washing - at the request of the owner.

In addition, each asymmetrically shaped drum grip has a steep and flat side. Depending on which direction it rotates, the laundry experiences a strong or, conversely, gentle mechanical effect.

E. Suzdaleva, Mabe: The safety of the laundry is affected not so much by the number as by the design of the perforations in the drum.

It is better to have more holes, but of a smaller diameter. This geometry enhances the strength of the structure and provides more gentle washing, and at high spin speeds, protection against creasing.

Small holes also protect the tank from small objects hidden in the pockets of unwashed clothes.

Cellular drums have become especially popular now. Hexagonal convex “honeycombs” have a beneficial effect on the safety of linen. During the washing process, it does not become excessively deformed, does not get pulled into holes, or stick to the walls - thus reducing the “grating effect”. In addition, the honeycomb structure of the drum increases its mechanical strength.

A. Myshkina, Candy: Of course, the design of the honeycomb cells and the drum as a whole affects the washing result.

Candy uses in its machines an enlarged drum with Shiatsu Massage technology, which allows you to treat your laundry with care without losing the quality of the wash.

The size of the holes is reduced to 3 mm, and their number is increased by 9 percent - to 2556 (in a washing machine 40 cm deep).

This technology provides advantages at all stages:

During washing, the laundry is better distributed inside, the fabric fibers “relax”, as if undergoing a massage, and frequent holes help water and cleaning agents quickly penetrate into the “essence of things” and remove even old stains;

During rinsing, foam and detergent residues are more easily and completely washed out of the drum;

During spinning, reduced holes protect laundry from unnecessary damage.

My gentle and affectionate circle

“BT”: thin knitwear, complex cut items abounding in decorative details, and the finest cashmere are in fashion. Therefore, gentle and delicate wash programs are more relevant than ever, as well as the “easy ironing”, “anti-wrinkle” options, etc. What role does the drum play in such programs?

E. Suzdaleva, Mabe: Most “easy ironing” and anti-crease programs rely on using a large amount of water during the rinsing phase and continuing to rotate the drum slowly after the spin phase. Thus, the laundry does not curl and bunch up, but is distributed more evenly and does not wrinkle too much.

The simplest way to prevent wrinkles is to stop rinsing. This function allows you to remove the laundry from the machine before the spin phase or postpone this phase - while remaining in the water, the laundry will not wrinkle.

K. Burmistrov, Ardo: The main requirement for the drum is the absence of sharp edges and burrs. Currently, this condition is met for the vast majority of models.

The main load in this case falls on the electronic control unit: it determines at what speed and in which direction the drum needs to rotate or, conversely, when it needs to stop.

A. Uzhgintsev, Miele: The honeycomb of our drum has a diameter of only 2.1 mm and is made not by drilling, but by stamping. When spinning, even at the highest speeds, the laundry does not penetrate beyond the drum and is not damaged. The edges of the holes are always smooth. Therefore, the Miele honeycomb drum allows you to wash items even with the “hand wash” symbol.

An interesting fact: Miele is the world's largest consumer of... hosiery products. Women's tights are known to tear at the slightest contact with an uneven surface, which led to the choice of this delicate material for testing the quality of the Miele honeycomb drum.

Each of our drums undergoes the “tights test”: a lady’s stocking is passed over the entire surface of the drum, and if at least one puff is formed, the drum is rejected.

A. Myshkina, Candy: The “easy ironing” mode significantly reduces the number of wrinkles after washing. Candy washing machines use the following “crease-free” mode technology: the temperature gradually decreases during the cycle and such cooling prevents thermal “creases” on the fabric. And the slow rotation of the drum - at the final phase of washing - straightens the fabric.

When choosing the “delicate wash” and “hand wash” programs, water remains in the drum at the end of the cycle - this is insurance in case the laundry lies in the drum for a long time after washing. Water is needed to prevent dry creases from forming on clothes. To complete the wash, you need to press the button, drain the water and be sure to take out clean and soft laundry.

You can’t get around direct drive on a “crooked goat”?

“BT”: This often happens: a technology is first considered ineffective, and then a company comes along, brings it to fruition and begins to position it as the best of all possible alternatives.

This was the case, for example, with wet hair removal, which was considered unhygienic for a long time, but has become a real trend in recent years.Doesn't the same story repeat itself with direct drive washing machines?

A. Uzhgintsev,Miele: Let's clarify what consumer benefits this technology provides. Typically they claim to be extremely quiet and durable.

Yes, direct drive is somewhat quieter because there are fewer rotating parts. However, in a modern washing machine, the drive mechanism is not the main source of noise.

A much greater noise effect is produced by the vibration that occurs at high speeds, as well as associated causes - for example, the metallic clanging of buttons or rivets on the drum hatch. Such sound is not related to the design of the drive and must be eliminated in some other way.

Therefore, Miele machines have a special service: the “Especially Quiet” function, an imbalance elimination button, noise and vibration isolation and other technological features.

Why, for example, does eliminating imbalance noticeably reduce extraneous noise? The reason is simple: the center of gravity of wet laundry, coupled with water, at some point begins to deviate greatly from the axis of rotation of the drum. If this displacement is not eliminated, the car begins to vibrate and bounce out of the blue, emitting an unpleasant hum.

This technological cause of noise has been eliminated in almost all modern machines - with the help of special sensors that constantly monitor and correct the imbalance, correctly redistributing the laundry in the drum.

Now about the second advantage of direct drive - durability.

So far, “not too many hours flown” to trump durability. There is simply no experience of long-term operation of such machines yet.

In addition, our engineers conducted laboratory tests: tests on the life of the direct drive showed a high probability of premature failure of the seal in the bearing, and this is fraught with oil leakage directly into the laundry drum.

The repair will not be cheap, since the entire tank with the drive will have to be replaced. The costs will be comparable to buying a new car.

Perhaps this problem will be resolved in the future. But direct drive technology is not yet advanced enough.

E. Suzdaleva,Mabe: direct drive certainly has its advantages over a conventional belt drive - a more robust design and quieter operation. However, direct drive is more expensive to manufacture, which increases the cost of the washing machine.

And there is no escape from the problem of repairs. If, God forbid, the direct drive breaks down, the entire engine will have to be replaced, and with the tank to boot. And in engines with a conventional transmission, any part can be replaced individually. Most often this is a belt worn out from time to time; other breakdowns are very rare. Feel the difference!

So, our attitude towards direct drive is still ambiguous. We continue to work seriously to improve the drive system. If we can offer the consumer the best option and without extra costs, of course, we will do it right away.

A. Godina,Vestel: Although the direct drive design is more compact, eliminates the weak link - the belt drive, ensures silence and reduces energy consumption, it is still a very big question how the direct drive motor will behave and how quickly it wears out due to vibration and friction.

V. Rozhkov, Atlant: The main problem with the widespread introduction of direct drive is a technology that requires the highest production standards in the assembly, minimal deviations from the characteristics and cosmic precision in parts. Otherwise - low reliability of the washing machine.

K. Burmistrov,Ardo: any company must invest in scientific and technical research, develop and improve.

As a rule, research is carried out in parallel in different directions. And if it is possible to create something new and actually improve the consumer properties of the product, rest assured that competitors will immediately take note of the innovation and will soon do something similar.

With direct drive, in my opinion, the situation is different. This is more of an advertising gimmick - like a square loading hatch or an inclined control panel.

I. Lavrentiev,Hansa: agree. Direct drive technology is promoted for marketing purposes.

A. Myshkina,Candy: We use inverter motor technology, which has the same advantages as direct drive motor and keeps the washing machine compact.

The inverter motor saves up to 15 percent energy when washing, is silent, reliable and durable.

D. Serditov, BSH: Siemens washing machines also use an inverter motor - iQdrive. Thanks to the absence of brushes and precise electronic control, energy losses are truly reduced significantly.

The combination of high-precision sensors, the latest electronics and precise operation of the new iQdrive provide the best washing results, including trace-free stain removal, better rinsing results, and more gentle laundry care.

The absence of brushes in the iQdrive also significantly reduces internal friction, so the motor runs very quietly even during spinning. You can even wash it at night!

It is important to note that in the case of a standard drive, the drum and motor are parts of one system; they are attached to the tank; tension or sagging of the drive belt is simply excluded.

The program saves electricity by 40% compared to standard washing modes.

The model integrates the “Anti-Allergy” program. Pressing the button activates the wash cycle for fine fiber items. This is achieved through increased water consumption for the main wash and rinse, as well as special rotation of the drum. The result is complete dissolution of the detergent at the beginning of the wash and complete removal of it during rinsing and spinning. Designed for people with sensitive skin.

Functional features of the model:

  • Wash in cold water. When you press the corresponding button, any program is transformed into a washing program without heating the water. The remaining parameters do not change. Suitable for items not intended to be washed at high temperatures and lightly soiled clothing. The function significantly saves electricity;
  • Delayed start. Program the start with a delay of up to 24 hours.

The inexpensive but functional narrow washing machine Candy GV34 126TC2 is a godsend for practical and rational people. This model from a well-known manufacturer is guaranteed to last a long time, washing tons of laundry from the most difficult stains. And what is most important is that during operation you will not notice how the machine works, it is silent, does not create vibration, and absorbs a minimum of energy.

Buyers choose this technique due to several undeniable advantages that you will see in the process:

  • Fabric protection mode – the model is equipped with a delicate wash function, so you will not spoil expensive woolen or silk items;
  • The touch display makes it easy to select a program - you can see in advance how the wash will proceed, how long the entire cycle will take;
  • To refresh your clothes, the quick wash mode works - your clothes will be clean in just 15 minutes. This function is lacking in many other devices, since most housewives do not have to deal with colossal dirt on their clothes, but simply with small stains;
  • Relief surface of the drum - this small detail ensures stable water circulation and removal of any contaminants in a short time;

Prices for Candy models

Note. Instructions for washing machines can be viewed online, downloaded and printed.

And here is the result - inexpensive, but modern washing machines with wide washing capabilities. We focused on a narrow format (depth - 38-45 cm, not 60) - in a small apartment you can’t really turn around. By the way, manufacturers have significantly increased the capacity of narrow models in recent years.

Prices are current on the day of publication of the material and are subject to change.

One button wash

This bright blue button on the body of the machine is called Push&Wash - you press it and wash cotton and synthetic items or items made from mixed fabrics together. All the necessary settings are already provided. Nothing needs to be sorted. But these are the things that people most often wash – so it’s the right function.

The model washes delicate fabrics, separately cotton, wool, synthetics, colored and dark items, sports, down - the set of programs for economy class is very decent. What is important for a budget model is that it has a delay start timer. And protection against leaks. And externally, the model does not look like such a “poor relative”: it, by the way, has a silver hatch. Oh yes - no display. Will you love her less?

The Push&Wash function of this machine starts washing items made from mixed fabrics with the press of one button.

Removes hair quickly

And this model has a display: it displays the time until the end of the wash and before it starts, if the delay start timer is active. All this is “mixed” with light indicators of various additional options. For example, a quick wash or an animal hair removal mode (soaking and a fourth rinse are added). Plus setting the water temperature and spin speed.

All basic washing programs are in place: cycles for cotton, for dark fabrics, for wool and synthetics, “hand wash” and “baby clothes” modes. In general, wash it - I don’t want to. The appearance is also not bad, there is an inexpensive design touch: the black hatch looks quite impressive against the background of the white body.

The BEKO washing machine has its own “trick” - a mode for removing pet hair from things.

Beautiful and useful

The soft lines of this car are calming and peaceful. The loading hatch handle is shifted upward - this is to make it convenient for you, Little Red Riding Hood. The display and rotary control for selecting programs are already a classic version of the control panel. She also has a Shiatsu washing drum, which has 2556 holes of 3 mm in diameter. The manufacturer reports that this way the cleaning solution penetrates the fabric faster and removes dirt.

In addition to standard washing cycles for cotton, synthetics, woolen items, and hand washing, there are modes for denim and children's clothing. Special “Hygienic” cycle for allergy sufferers. There are 3 quick wash options available: 14 minutes, 30 and 44. Plus the super-economical EcoMix 20° program (high-quality washing in twenty-degree water) and the Mix&Wash mode for those who are too lazy to sort the laundry.

The Candy washing machine is attractive and boasts a wide range of programs to suit all washing needs.

Speed is everything

The model is the smallest in this review - depth 38 cm. The capacity does not suffer - 6 kg. The increased hatch diameter makes loading and unloading easier. The QuickWash function reduces the duration of washing without losing its quality: you activate it, and the machine itself calculates at which stages you can save time - this savings can reach up to 50%.

It has several programs for cotton, synthetics, woolen items, and a delicate wash mode. Cycles for shirts, denim, a half-hour cycle and another cycle for washing 3 kg of items made from mixed fabrics in water heated to only 20°C are useful. The delay start timer will help you wash when electricity is cheaper.

The Zanussi washing machine is the narrowest in the review - 38 cm. It also allows you to shorten the duration of washing programs: time savings reach up to 50%.

Simple and cute

Look again at the nice design - it’s not very often found among “state employees”, or indeed from this manufacturer in general. The combination of black and white colors is classic, but always effective. There is a display that shows the time until the end of the wash; washing cycles are traditionally selected using a rotary programmer.

The machine washes cotton and synthetic items; there is a mode for woolen and children’s items. It’s good that you didn’t forget the quick wash - a 15-minute cycle for things that just need to be refreshed. The “Daily Wash” program allows you to wash different items at the optimal water temperature without thinking about sorting. In general, everything is quite simple, logical and convenient.

The Samsung machine has simple controls, an optimal set of programs and a pleasant appearance.

Inexpensive care

Specially designed drum rotation patterns for different items and types of fabric, which allow you to wash gently but effectively - this is the meaning of the Korean 6 Motion technology. They are “built into” the washing program algorithms. Plus an inverter motor with direct drive: it is more reliable (without a transmission belt), more economical and quieter - it has a 10-year guarantee. Add here the Smart Diagnosis mobile fault diagnosis system.

In terms of design, the LG machine is nothing special. This is just a classic budget option - you can’t say that it’s ugly, but there’s nothing to catch the eye. But the model boasts a variety of washing programs. In addition to standard cycles (cotton, synthetics, wool, mixed fabrics), there is a mode for duvets, for children's and sportswear, a daily and quick (30 minutes) wash program. The delay start timer has not been forgotten either.

LG highlights: special drum rotation algorithms, direct drive inverter motor and mobile fault diagnosis.
